A Popular Day Out

The Grand National represents a big day out for horse racing fans. Spectators have a long-standing reputation for dressing up specially for the event, with a range of stylish and colourful hats on display. Many people also enjoy placing bets on which horse they think will emerge victorious. The most recent winner was Noble Yeats, whose first-placed finished secured a £500,000 prize for its owners.

When not hosting the Grand National, the Aintree racecourse runs a series of smaller races across the year, and is also a popular venue for weddings, conferences and filming.
