History and Industry

Steph grew up on the Wirral, a peninsular just outside of Liverpool, before studying Law and living in other parts of North West England before returning and taking up a role as an Associate . Here’s what she had to tell us about the city’s history and industry.

Can you tell us a bit about the history of Liverpool?

Liverpool has a long and interesting history. Two of the most notable elements are the fact it gained its wealth through its port and is the home of the Beatles!

What is the main industry in Liverpool?

 Nowadays I would say the health sector. Many of the specialised hospital Trusts are based in Merseyside, like the Liverpool Heart & Chest hospital.

Which companies are based in or have a presence in Liverpool?

There are a large number. Hill Dickinson is one of the most well known law firms in the City, it specialises in maritime law and originally advised the owners of the Titanic.

Liverpool Football Club is also a company I suppose, and it definitely has a presence in the city!

Any interesting facts or history?

True ‘Scousers’ are like no other people I’ve known. They are super friendly, and the ladies like to dress up! It’s also a city where you will often see famous Premiership footballers walking around. As well as Liverpool FC, the city is also home to Everton FC.
