A UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its Cathedral and history, Canterbury attracts tourists from all over the world. The picturesque city is surrounded by miles of stunning countryside and is close to the popular seaside town of Whitstable, and an hour from central London.

A busy week of immersion activities, social and cultural events which will include:
✔ Visiting a traditional British pub
✔ Boating along the beautiful waterways of the Westgate Gardens.
✔ A visit to the magnificent Cathedral itself to learn more about its key role in history and enjoy an Afternoon Tea
Finish the week with a London Daytrip. We will spend a busy day exploring as much as we can of the city. Highlights will include:
✔ A tour of Westminster Abbey.
✔ The National Gallery.
✔ A ride on the London Eye.
✔ A visit to the Skygarden.
✔ The Imperial War Museum.
✔ Tate Modern.
✔ A walking route passing by Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Downing Street, Horseguards' Parade, Trafalgar Square, St Pauls' Cathedral, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and the Royal parks.
✔ A Thames river cruise by night

Course Schedule

✔ Refreshments, orientation, an overview of the week and your first lesson.
✔ First lesson - focus on introductions and some initial presentation practice.
✔ Relax with a film and food whilst getting to know your coursemates, and preparing for the busy week ahead!

✔ Speaking and listening skills with general conversation activities.
✔ Accents - develop your understanding of regional accents with practical experience, including phone calls and a listening comprehension.
✔ A workshop on writing professional emails.
✔ Applied business skills, focus on business correspondence.
✔ Using a combination of groupwork, listening, reading, speaking and presenting - you will cover accounting terminology (including correct use of the language).
✔ Listen to and answer questions on a financial report, and learn how to present financials.
✔ The traditional Thomas Beckett pub for an organised evening of discussion, where you can put your conversational skills in to practice.

✔ Applied business skills, including meetings and accounting/finance.
✔ Meetings - interactive sessions where you will work in groups on a meeting, follow a case study, develop skills and learn key language to be used in meetings.
✔ Real case study to focus on financial results, developing your financial skills as you present the key results back.
✔ Take a boat tour of Canterbury's famous waterways, followed by dinner at Café du Soleil.

✔ Applied business skills, such as briefings and report writing.
✔ Real life examples, news reports and case studies to analyse and report back on.
✔ Develop your analysis skills and your written skills, as you learn key
✔ Unwind at Whitstable seaside with some traditional Fish & Chips.

✔ Applied Business Skills - problem solving, giving recommendations, language for presenting, business correspondence and finance.
✔ Your task for the final day’s panel assessment will be set.
✔ Dinner will be provided in the classroom, with the teacher available until 8pm to support with preparation for the presentations for the next day.

✔ Enjoy a delicious breakfast before a morning of assessments.
✔ You will be given time to prepare, followed by an assessed meeting and the opportunity to present your case study to a panel.
✔ You will be given feedback on your presentational and speaking skills, along with feedback on your use of grammar and language.
✔ You will then be guided through developing your individual development plan, for your future learning.
✔ Enjoy an afternoon of discovering Canterbury's history, including a visit to the famous Cathedral, and afternoon tea where you can find out more about it and ask any burning questions about Canterbury's history!
✔ Finish the working week with graduation in Dane John Park.
