Visible History
Locals and tourists alike have been enjoying Conwy Mountain for thousands of years. The Iron Age settlement remains are thought to date as far back as 300 BC, some 2300 years ago. It is believed that these settlements were abandoned only three years later, when the Romans conquered North Wales, and were not reoccupied like many other sites. Later on, during the Napoleonic Wars of the 1800s, millstones were quarried on Conwy Mountain.
The Iron Age remains can still be seen near the summit of Conwy mountain to this day, and give a fascinating reminder of history, and how those habiting in these settlements had to live off of the land around them.
We look forward to showing you Conwy mountain during our Scenic Wales and Historic Conwy courses.
