HMS Belfast

A site of the Museum in its own right, the HMS Belfast is an essential part of the Imperial War Museum experience. This famous warship from 1938 was deployed during a number of high profile conflicts, including the second World War and the Korean War.
The ship has been berthed at its current location on the Thames, by the Tower of London, since 1971. It has welcomed visitors throughout this time. Visitors to the HMS Belfast can be fascinated by exploring its multiple decks, which include several that lie deep underneath the surface of the Thames. Among these you can see the original medical centre, kitchen, cells and ‘mess rooms’ - where crew would go for a rest.
If you are looking to learn more about modern British history and our role within some of the most renowned conflicts of recent decades, then you will be sure to find a trip to the Imperial War Museum useful and engaging.
