Architectural Delights
The University is made up of 44 different colleges. Students at Oxford are part of both a college and their course department as well as the University itself, which cultivates a strong sense of community. Colleges vary in terms of their age, location and the cost of their accommodation.
Unlike many other Universities, the University of Oxford is not all based on one site. Rather, its buildings are found all over the city, and many of these are examples of beautiful architecture. Among the most famous is Christ Church College, which was partially designed by Christopher Wren, who also designed St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Christ Church College has featured in several of the Harry Potter films. Another iconic building is the Radcliffe Camera, a circular building which forms part of the world-famous Bodleian Library. The Bridge of Sighs - a structure connecting two parts of Hertford College - is also a popular piece of architecture with photographers.
Those enrolling onto our Oxford course can enjoy experiencing life in one of the most academically important cities in the world, taking in its beautiful architecture, pretty meadows and meandering waterways first-hand.
